Score My Heart // Chapter Twelve

"Hey Sidney," I asked, leaning against his chest in the car.
"Yeah," he whispered.
"You think I could stay with you tonight, I'm very very frightened to go back to my room," I asked laughing in a hopeful tone.

"I live with Mario Lemieux, I don't think that's such a good idea." Sidney said, laughing.
"Oh, right." I felt myself blush.
"Buuut," Sidney said, raising an eyebrow, "Colby doesn't live with Mario Lemieux. We can stay with him."
"AW HELL NO!" I heard Colby scream from the drivers seat.
"Please?" I pleaded, "I really don't want to fall asleep with ... Tyler in my roommate's bed."
"And you think I want to fall asleep with you and Sidney in my bed?!" Colby yelped.
"I could sleep on the couch." I suggested.
"Fine," Colby agreed, "But I get to keep a watch on Sid, I don't want him getting in too much trouble."
"Thank you!" I exclaimed.

We pulled up into Colby's driveway of his bachelor pad and walked up into the house. I was tired and it was late, so as soon as Colby pulled a blanket out of the closet, I fell fast asleep on his couch, much to the disappointment of Sidney. Around 2 in the morning I heard someone sit down by the end of the couch. I opened my eyes just a wink to see Sidney sitting there gazing at me with a smile on his face.

"That's kind of creeper Crosby," I said, rubbing my eyes and sitting up.
"Sorry," I heard Sidney say sheepishly as he lied down next to me, "I couldn't help it, Colby's a heavy sleeper and I knew you were just in the next room."

I smiled as he wrapped his arm around my waist as placed a kiss on my shoulder, gently massaging my back. I turned around to face him so I could kiss him, but he beat me to it.  Within a second his mouth was crashing down onto mine in a heart stopping kiss. I felt my hand immediately go to his belt as I struggled to take it off. He rolled himself under me as he quickly took off my shirt, sending it flying across the room. I had finally won the battle with Sidney's belt and had quickly stripped him of his jeans and boxers. He tugged on my sweatpants never once breaking the kiss, and when we were both done with the clothes, Sidney stood up and walked to the bathroom to get a condom. As he came back and rolled on top of me, I couldn't help but laugh as I realized something.

"What?" Sidney asked nervously, kissing my collarbone.
"I just realized something," I said in between heavy breaths and laughs, "Colby's going to kill us."

Sidney was sent into a fit of uncontrollable laughter as I said this. And he placed another feisty kiss on my lips as he rolled off of me.

"We're so dead." He said as he pulled the covers over both of us and I fell asleep on his chest, breathing in perfect synchronization.

I woke up the next day to Colby freaking out in the door to the living room. Sidney's arms were still wrapped tightly around my waist, and he was laughing. And laughing hard.

"WHAT THE FUCK?! I told you NO SEX ON MY COUCH! You guys DISGUST ME! I'm not walking in there until EVERY LAST EVIDENCE OF YOUR BEING HERE HAS DISAPPEARED!" Colby screamed.

"Colby, shut up." I heard Sidney mumble as he threw a pillow at him.

Score My Heart // Chapter Eleven

I decided to take Tess's advice, and try to forget about everything, and it seemed to work. Every time I would pass Chanelle in the hallways, or in class, she'd snicker and I'd just walk on by with my head held high. I wasn't going to let her win. And after a week or so, she'd seemed to have given up. She no longer wasted her time trying to get me ticked off my making icy remarks and smirking at me. I had to remind myself to thank Tess, if I hadn't just ignored Chanelle, I'd probably be feeling a lot worse about myself right now.

Just like Callie said, she hadn't come back from the night she went out with Tyler, and it made me sick to my stomach. I knew Callie had something to do with the entire Chanelle-rapes-Sidney affair, and I didn't want my cousin to get hurt. I hadn't confronted Callie about it because I thought it'd be best if we stayed friends, since we live in the same dorm and everything.

Walking to class, I got a text from Sidney:

Can I please ask you that question now? It's killing me.

I laughed at the desperation of the text and quickly texted back 'ok' before stuffing my phone back in my bag as I entered the classroom. I sighed as I saw that the only available seat in the room was next to Chanelle, and quickly dropped my bag to the ground and sat down next to her, without saying a word. I stuffed my phone into my desk and turned it to silent, so I could text Sidney without getting caught. I smiled as my phone lit up, signaling a message from Sidney.

I'll meet you tomorrow night, then :)

Sounds good, Crosby ;)

Thankfully, by the end of class I hadn't said anything to Chanelle, and there were high chances that she hadn't even noticed me. I walked back to my dorm, only to find Tyler's hat hanging on the door, with a note attached that said 'Enter at your own risk.' I shuddered and turned around, definitely not wanting to walk in on that, and headed for the parking lot. I hopped into my car and drove off towards the closest Starbucks where I plopped down on the couch with Vogue and a Caramel Mochiatto. I flipped through the magazine, Gross. Ew. Nasty. Who the fuck would wear that? Is this designer delusional?  What is THAT? I kept on flipping the pages staring at the hideously designed clothes until I fell on a medium lengthed purple and gold off the shoulder dress.

I stared at it gaping, until I felt someone tap on my shoulder. I spun around to see Sidney and Colby standing behind me with grins on their faces.

"Hey guys!" I said excitedly, already forgetting about the dress.
"Hi," Sidney said, helping me up then wrapping me into a hug, "How are you?"
"I'm ... alright actually. I got some advice from a friend, it really helped." I said, sighing.
"I want to apologize again. You have no idea how bad I feel." Sidney said, looking at his feet.
"Please, stop apologizing, I forgive you." I said, and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Okay," he mumbled as he leant in to kiss me.
"GOD. GROOOSS!!" Colby yelped from next to me.

Sid and I let out a soft chuckle as he elbowed him in the gut and gently pressed his lips to mine again.

"I'm outta here!" Colby exclaimed, obviously disgusted.
"We're going to follow you, Army. You drove me here." Sidney said, laughing and flashing me an irresistible smile.
"Fine." Colby grumbled and took off towards the exit.
"Let's go make his life a living hell," Sidney said, suggestively.
"That sounds perfect to me," I said laughing, as he took my hand as we chased Colby to his car.

Score My Heart // Chapter Ten

I was furious. There were a million thoughts going through my head at the moment. I was going to kill her, I thought, It's the only sensible way to deal with this. She must die.

Sidney had stayed for a bit to comfort me, and said he'd ask me that question some other time, that now I should just relax. I had felt so serene when he was sitting next to me, and when he left all my anger towards Chanelle had come back. She had ruined my night, and just about my life if it wasn't for the fact that I was such a wuss when it came to Sidney. I had just taken out a pad of paper to plan her destruction when Callie walked into the room, looking unusually smug.

"How was your night?" She asked, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"Excellent. I had a fucking excellent time." I snapped at her.
"Woah, easy there missy." She said, taken aback by my icy tone. "What's the problem?"
"The problem is that if I murder Chanelle while she's sleeping, I'll probably get kicked out of here, then my parents will scold me and I'll end up in jail. THAT'S the problem."
"She getting on your nerves?" Callie asked applying clear lipgloss, obviously uninterested.
"My. Last. One." I looked at her, "You going somewhere?"
"Out. With Tyler." She said, picking up her purse.
I shot her a disgusted look.
"Gross. Why?"
"Because. I like him, he's funny."
"Gee, there's a moral."
"Oh, whatever, I'm leaving. I'll probably not be back tonight."

I made a gagging sound as she exited her room and grabbed my phone and texted Tyler.

Callie? R u fucking serious?!?

No response.
Oh, he's dead to me. I thought.
Ugh, he wouldn't do anything with her. He's too smart for that. Shit. No he's not.
I groaned as I read the text he had sent me.

Oh yes, I am quite serious! She's HOTTTT! :P

I glared at my phone as if to say 'how could you possibly shown this on my screen you technological bitch.'

Go die.

IPBS Instant Messaging.

RoxanneTremblay: Help. Me.
TessCallaway: Uh, hello to you to!
TessCallaway: How are youuu? Haven't heard ANYTHING from you.
RoxanneTremblay: Yeah. Been a bit occupied.
TessCallaway: How may I assist you today?
RoxanneTremblay: How do you destroy a conceited blonde bitch.
TessCallaway: Making lots of friends are we?
RoxanneTremblay: TESS!!
TessCallaway: Sorry, sorry. But if I were you, I wouldn't do anything about it. That just gives her the attention she obviously wants.
RoxanneTremblay: I honestly don't think I'm capable of doing that.
TessCallaway: Just, give it a try. If she continues to harass you, I'm coming down there ;)
RoxanneTremblay: If I try, will you give me a cookie?
TessCallaway: Of course, Roxy ;)
RoxanneTremblay: Fine.

So, that was no help. I thought, But I'll give it a try, that's if I don't rip her hair out the next time I see her. Woah, Rox, what's with the masochist thoughts? That's not you.

When I heard my phone whirl off, I could've thrown it at the wall. But I decided to at least check who it was before I went off throwing a $200 phone at my mirror.

Sidney.
Oh god.

I still feel horrible about today :(
I DISGUST MYSELF.
So sorry ...

I felt a smile crack at the side of my lips as I read the message. God, I thought, he's adorable.

Aw, it's okay.
If I was here I would've thrown myself at you too ;)

Good.
Because you're the one I really want.

Score My Heart // Chapter Nine

I rolled out of bed the next day to find Callie already gone. I looked at the clock and saw it was 8:30, I groaned and headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and have a shower. I turned on the shower, got undressed, then jumped in. The steaming water felt good on my muscles that were so tense from the past day. I smiled to myself as I remembered that I'd be seeing Sidney again. I got out of the shower and quickly got dressed for the day. It was colder today, so I pulled on a navy blue American Apparel sweater and a pair of grey jeans. I sat on my bed and brushed out my wet, long brown hair, and I heard my phone beep. I reached across to my dresser to see two new messages, one from Sidney and one from Callie.

I'm coming at nine. Be ready.
-Sid.

We're going shopping today. Wanna come?
-Cal

I jotted back a quick 'Already am' to Sidney and a 'Sorry, already got plans with Tyler today' to Callie. I prayed that she'd fall for it, and not two seconds later, I got a message back.

Fine. But you're missing out.

I sighed and went over to my mirror to out on my makeup for the day, just eyeliner and grey eyeshadow. I was walking over to my bed to get a headband, when I heard somewhat of a commotion outside. I peeped outside of the door and saw Chanelle mauling Sidney across from my dorm. I closed the door quietly, sat on the edge of my bed, and watched as tears started forming in my eyes.

I should've known a guy like that wouldn't fall for a girl like me. I was too plain.

I heard a knock on my door a minute later, but I ignored it. I couldn't see anyone right now. It didn't matter if it was Sidney, or Tyler, or Chanelle. I wasn't going to take crap from anyone now. My world was crashing down, I haven't been this sad in a long time. I may had only known the guy for a week, but I'd never felt anything remotely close to what I felt with Sidney. The knocking continued for the next ten minutes. Whoever it was, they sure weren't giving up too easy. I heard the person on the other side of the door sigh, and I assumed they had given up. I layed face down on my pillow when I heard them speak.

"C'mon, Roxy, open the door" Sidney pleaded.
"Why? So you can tell me how much you like Chanelle's tongue down your throat?" I snapped back icily.
"No, please, open up so I can explain." His tone was desperate.

I crossed my arms and opened the door.
"What?" I asked, furious.
Down the hall I could see Chanelle smirking, leaning against her door. I wanted to go down and give her a giant slap in the face, dug on her shoulder length blonde hair and ask her why the FUCK she would ruin the one good thing I had right now.
"I-I'm sorry," he said, "It wasn't me, I swear, she threw herself at me." he looked at his feet.
I couldn't help but forgive him, the almond shaped brown eyes drew me right in. I sighed, feeling defeated, then just curled up in his arms.

"I really am sorry," he whispered into my hair.
"I know, I forgive you." I murmured as tears started streaming down my face.

What the fuck? Was I turning into a big softy?

Score My Heart // Chapter Eight

I dug through my purse looking for my key, and opened the door. Callie was sitting on her bed reading Us Weekly in her Pitt t-shirt and sweats with her blonde hair in a pony tail and glasses perched on her nose. When she heard me come in, she looked up from her magazine and greeted me in a tone that was quite unusual to use when you were supposedly enraged at your roommate.

"How was your date?" she asked.
"Oh, um, fine" I said, confused.
"Look, can we talk?"
"Uh, sure." I said and took a seat next to her on the bed.
"I'm really sorry about how I acted earlier, Roxy. I was way out of line, I guess I was just disappointed that it wasn't me going on a date with Sidney." she said in a sincere tone.
"Oh, well it wasn't your fault, I mean, you said you liked him and I said yes anyways, I felt bad."
"I was just wondering if we can put this all behind us and start over?" She asked, her eyes pleading.
"Works for me."

I heard a knock on the door, and I went to answer it. Standing there was Tyler with a dozen roses in his hand.

"Uh, Ty, I appreciate it and everything, but you're my cousin. I don't have feelings for you like that," I joked.

"Hahaha," he replied, sarcastically. "Sidney dropped these off, asked me to give them to you."

I took the roses from Tyler's hands and set them down on the dresser. Attached to the bouquet was a note.

Tomorrow?
I'd like to use that one question...
-Sidney

I felt my smile grow wider and wider as I read the note. I turned around to see Callie pretending as if she hadn't seen the roses.

"Everything all right with you two?" Tyler asked, pointing his head in Callie's direction.
"Yeah, I think so." I replied.
"Well I'll let you two be then," Tyler said bowing his way out of the dorm.

I sat down on my bed and pulled out my phone sending a quick text to Sidney before doing damage control with Callie.

Tomorrow it is.

I put away my phone as I turned to Callie, with sorry eyes.

"Who are those from," she asked, putting on a coat of red nail polish.
"My mom, she's just congratulating me on finding a job here" I lied.
"Well, that's very sweet of her," she said, uninterested. "I'm going to bed, I've got a game tomorrow night." Callie said putting away the nail polish.
"Oh, yeah, um, me too. I've got a big day tomorrow."

It was true, I did have a big day tomorrow, whatever that question was, I'd need to be prepared for it.

IPBS Instant Messaging,

ChanelleFortin: You make up with her?

Score My Heart // Chapter Seven

We walked out of Waverly, to the parking lot where Sidney’s silver Range Rover was parked. He opened the side door for me and I thanked him and hopped in.

“Since I don’t know much about you, how about we play 20 questions?” I asked.
“Likewise, you start” he said back, putting the keys in the ignition.
“Okay, we’ll start with the easy stuff,” I said, “Where are you from?”
“Coal Harbor, Nova Scotia. You?”
“I’m from Ottawa, born and raised.”
“Any siblings?” he asked.
“Just one, Jake, he’s 17, you?”
“I’ve got a little sister, Taylor, she’s 11”

We arrived at Kiku, a trendy looking Japanese restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh.

“Hope you like sushi,” he said.
“Love it,” I said.

We walked in the door, and the waiter seated us at a booth. Sid took my jacket and hung it up on a hook nearby. When he returned and sat down he asked,

“So, what did you think of me when you first saw me?”
“Well, uh” I looked at my feet, “I thought you were pretty cute, actually”
“Huh, that’s funny, that’s exactly what I thought about you.” He flashed me a million dollar smile, and my face completely lit up.

We talked and asked questions for what seemed like ages, he asked me things about home, and my family, little things like what my favorite movie was: Slapshot, and what my favorite artist was: John Lennon. Occasionally the odd fan would come up to him and ask for autographs, and he’d never decline. He’s always happily pose for a picture, or sign a jersey.

“So, what’s the best thing about your job?” I asked.
“The paycheck?” he joked.
“No,”’ I laughed “Seriously.”
“Seriously?” He asked.
“Yes.”
“Two things, One, I get to do what I love every day, and two, the joy I see kids get just by taking a picture with them. It’s an… unbelievable feeling. They have grins on their faces from ear-to-ear, it just makes me feel like I can do anything. Like I’m Superman to them”
“Wow, that’s deep, Crosby” I said, stunned.
“It’s weird, but it just always makes me feel good when I can make someone else happy.” He said sighing.
“Is there any flaws with you?” I asked.
“You’ll have to figure that out on our second date.”
“So, you’re saying there’s going to be a second date? I must’ve done something right.”
“You have no idea,” he said, and I could feel the color coming to my cheeks.
Thank god this restaurant was dimmed, I thought.
“You have one question left,” I pointed out.
“I think I’ll save that one,” he said, grinning.

We finished our dinner, California Rolls and chicken, and headed to the car. He opened the door for me to get it, then quickly got in his side. We were on our way back to the dorm, listening to Bruce Springsteen on the radio, when I asked,
“What are you saving that question for?”
“Hm, not sure yet, but I think it’ll come in handy sometime” He said.

And with that, he parked the car and grabbed my hand, leading me to the door of my dorm.

“So, uh, I had a great time tonight,” I managed to sputter out.
“Mm, me too.” He said leaning a bit closer to me.
“Is this, uh the awkward doorstep moment?” I asked.
“Who said anything about this being awkward?” he asked.

He grabbed my chin so that I looked directly into his deep caramel eyes, and then ever so slowly, leant in and gave me one, soft, kiss. My breath accelerated and I put my arms around his neck, deepening the kiss as my heart started racing. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him, but we never once broke the kiss. After what seemed like hours, we finally pulled away.

“Goodnight, Roxy” he said, his fresh breath blowing over my face.
“N-night, Sid” I stuttered back.

I couldn’t find words to say, I was still in so much shock from the kiss, that I was shaking. My lips were tingling as if they were asking for more, and my knees were completely dead. I was spinning, and that was only the first date.

Score My Heart // Chapter 6

We got back to our dorm, and Callie still hadn’t said anything. We brushed our teeth and took showers in silence, then finally while we were in bed, trying to sleep she spoke;
“So, are you going out with Sidney tomorrow?” she asked quietly.
“Yeah,” I murmured back “Are you OK with that?”
“No, not really” She said coldly. “I like him y’know”
“I know, I’m sorry, but you haven’t even spoken to him, it’s just a date,” I whispered back.
And with that she turned her back to me, and shut off the lights.

The next day I spent most of my time helping Tyler pick out a wardrobe, because his taste in clothes was repelling all female life forms, and he was desperate. We shopped around for a bit, picking up things from Hollister and American Eagle, then stopped for ice cream.

“So,” he said taking a lick out of his Pistachio cone “I hear you’ve got a date with Sidney Crosby tonight”
“How’d you know that?” I asked
“Callie told me,” he stated. “Is it true?”
I felt my cheeks flush, “Yeah, it is.”
“Just tell me if he tries to grab-ass you, I think I can take him,” Tyler said.
I laughed, it was true, Tyler was a giant, at 6’7” he’d take Sidney down in no time.
“She seemed pretty pissed when she told me, is everything alright with you guys?” He asked with an eyebrow raised.
“Um, no, not really, she’s pretty angry, she likes him and all” I said taking a jab at my lemon sorbet. “It’s awkward.”
Tyler just shrugged his shoulders and continued stuffing his face with his ice cream, which was his way of saying he’s going to stay out of it.

I got back to my dorm to find Callie gone, but her signature scent of Vera Wang Princess was still lingering in the room. I sighed and plopped down on the bed. I looked at my clock then jumped up and headed for the washroom. It was 7:30, and Sidney would be here any minute. I took a rapid speed shower, washing my hair as quickly as possible. I wrapped a towel around myself, brushed my hair and teeth then started to apply my makeup. I had just finished my eyeliner when I heard a knock on my door. I ran over and opened it, to find Sidney, dressed in a blue striped collared shirt and jeans; his curls gelled back, looking utterly shocked. Shit. I’m still in my towel, I realized.
“I love your outfit for tonight, really I do, but I’m not sure the restaurant will let you in like that.” Sidney noted, laughing.
“Uh, yeah, sorry, I’m running late. Give me a minute while I change ok?” I felt myself blush.
“Yeah sure.”

I grabbed my outfit out of the top of my dresses then ran into the bathroom to change. Ten minutes later I bolted out of the door wearing a red strapless dress with black skinny jeans and a black wrap sweater. I walked over to Sidney, to see him looking almost as shocked as he did when I first opened the door.
“Wow,” he said, “You look beautiful”
“Thanks,” I said with a smile on my face, “Let’s go.”
He grabbed my arm and we walked down the hall, passing by Chanelle who shot me a glare that said that Callie had definitely talked to her. I just shrugged it off, I felt so comfortable in Sidney’s grasp that whatever Callie and Chanelle were planning didn’t matter. I’d deal with that later, right now, I was on Cloud Nine. And the date hadn’t even started yet.
