I had just pulled a sweater over my head as I heard my phone whiz off.
"Hello?" I answered, plopping myself down on my bed.
"Good morning." I heard Sidney greet me from the other side of the line.
"Hey!" I said sitting up, "What's up?"
"I just realized something," Sidney laughed, "You're probably in so much suspense to know what my last question is. Well, I've decided I no longer really need to ask that question, I'm going to save it for a bit longer."
"Okay," I said, with an eyebrow raised, "Mind telling what you were going to ask me?"
"Well ..." Sidney started in a blunt tone, "I was going to ask you to be my girlfriend."
"And, that's changed now?" I asked as tears started to form in my eyes.
"No, I just don't feel as if I have to ask anymore." Sidney stated in a smug manner, making my tears disappear and replacing them with a laugh, "But. If it helps ... Roxy, will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes." I said laughing, I was going to make some smartass comment, but I didn't feel like it at the moment. I just wanted to agree.
"So, I've got something I need to admit to you first." Sidney said, taking a deep breath, "I've never had an actual girlfriend before. Not one. So, please, bear with me, I'm new to this."
"And I've got a confession for you too, Crosby," I said, grinning, "I was married once."
I heard silence on the other end of the line and I had to smother my laughter.
"Really?" I heard Sidney begin slowly, "You were married before?"
"Yep. In kindergarden, his name was Ethan and we had virtually nothing in common, so I pulled the plug." I laughed as I heard Sidney breathe out a sigh of relief and mutter something before chuckling a bit.
"You really scared me."
"Owh, I'm sorry," I said, teasing him.
"Practice is about to start, I got to go." I heard Sidney say in a tad disappointed way, "I'll see you later then, girlfriend." I giggled a little bit at his new name for me.
"You're not honestly going to start calling me that are you?" I asked, eyebrows raised.
"Hm, maybe, I like the way it sounds. Then again, maybe not."
"Well, I'll let you go, boyfriend." I said laughing.
"Okay, but tonight, we're going out to dinner with all the boys, Mario too. Gotta introduce you."
I gulped at the sound of Mario's name.
"Okay, bye."
"Bye," I heard Sidney whisper then hang up.
Oh. My. God. Mario fucking Lemieux. I'm going, to die.
